Ritual and the Dagara Cosmology -

Ritual is a fundamental part of Dagara life, inseparable from the day to day workings of the culture
Through ritual, the community and it's members create a deeper relationship with Spirit and the Ancestors through focused connection and contact with the five elements of the cosmology and invoking the presence and participation of the AncestorsIn any ritual, participants will engage physically, emotionally and spiritually the element that is the focus of the process and through this energetic engagement, derive subtle and powerful direct healing, renew and deepen communal relationships and create new pathways for spiritual enlightenment and communication.  A healthy and balanced personal and communal life is impossible without ritual and it is a key cultural tool, an essential spiritual technology that must be reintroduced and reintegrated into the lives and consciousness of people in the modern world.  Many persistent social and personal problems can be traced to the absence of ritual and profound spiritual engagement.  Without ritual, a full and familial relationship with Spirit and nature is not easily attained and sustained.  Through ritual, we begin to know the importance, function and power of Spirit.  And through ritual, Spirit continues to deepen Its understanding and knowing of us.

Ritual is a creative, intuitive and essential human process that can be put together by anyone knowing the correct protocols and guidelines.  It is important to have the correct protections and energetic dynamics for ritual to be safe and powerfully transformational.  Malidoma Some''s book, "Ritual: Power,
Healing and Community
", is a great resource for creating effective ritual experiences.

Ukumbwa, as a Dagara Elder, is able to assist and help to create and guide communal and personal ritual experiences, having years of experience in participating and facilitating ritual.  The types of ritual can be defined through divination, intuition or other means and can be done in many locations, though locations outside in nature are best to connect with Spirit.  Please be free to contact Ukumbwa for more information or to talk about planning and creating ritual for you and your community.
